The Trevor Project
The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) young people ages 13-24. The LGBT National Hotline provides free, confidential peer support for LGBTQ+ individuals, as well as family members, friends, and allies. Staffed by trained volunteers who are part of the LGBTQ+ community, the hotline offers a safe and affirming space to talk about coming out, relationships, family concerns, identity questions, and other life challenges. The NAMI HelpLine is a free, nationwide service provided by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), offering information, referrals, and support to individuals experiencing mental health concerns, as well as to family members and caregivers. The Anti-Violence Project
The Anti-Violence Project (AVP) operates a confidential hotline supporting LGBTQ+ affected individuals who have experienced violence, including hate violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and harassment. Trained advocates provide crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support, and assistance navigating medical, legal, and social services. The Community Center
The Community Center in Boise, Idaho is a nonprofit organization that serves as a welcoming hub for LGBTQ+ people, allies, and families throughout the Treasure Valley. Founded in the early 1980s, it is one of Idaho’s oldest organizations dedicated to supporting and connecting the LGBTQ+ community. Today, it offers support groups, educational programs, social events, and access to community resources. The Community Center also maintains a lending library and resource referrals for healthcare, counseling, and legal support.

PFLAG Boise/Treasure Valley
PFLAG Boise/Treasure Valley offers monthly, in-person support meetings led by trained volunteers. Each session runs approximately 90 minutes to two hours and provides a structured, welcoming environment where participants can share their experiences in a respectful and confidential setting. Educational materials, including PFLAG booklets and additional resources, are available at every meeting. Youth Alliance for Diversity (YAD) provides a safe environment that fosters education, socialization, and a sense of unity within the community.YAD strives to provide youth with the opportunity to meet and receive the support of other youth who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning, or straight supportive, and to provide the opportunity to interact with positive adult role models in a safe, non-threatening environment. PFLAG National Publications
A core part of PFLAG’s work is creating trusted educational resources to help people better understand sexual orientation, gender identity, and lived LGBTQ+ experiences. Many of these publications are available for free download, making them accessible to individuals, families, educators, and community organizations. One widely used resource is “Our Children,” a guide that helps parents and caregivers support and affirm their LGBTQ+ children.
